As this is written, the housing industry is in a severe slump in many portions of the United States. New housing starts are down 40%, and people can’t sell their existing homes. They can either reduce the price on their existing homes until they reach a sellable level, wait out the market downturn, or remodel. We at Blue Line Home Design are expert remodeling designers, and design remodels throughout the country. You will need to measure the space and send us digital images of the space, but we can do the rest.
Another consideration for builders who are waiting out the housing slump is to consider investing in rental units, which are gaining in popularity as housing becomes more expensive to enter. We have developed a duplex which is our best selling plan and it is available on our web site; we also have two variations of the plan which will be posted soon. Contact us about purchasing multiple licenses for these duplexes.
For builders and developers looking for opportunities outside of the residential market is the “Garage Town” phenomenon which is sweeping the country. As the Boomers downsize into condo living, they need space to store their stuff. Also, space is needed to store RVs, boats and trailers. Blue Line Home Design has developed garage condominium units which are practical and with no waste to clean up. Contact Terry Hughes at thughes@blhd.net.
There are always ways to utilize our skills and talents in the construction industry, so don’t sit around this winter waiting for the phone to ring. Go out and build something!
